Funding of digitization projects for SMEs
With support from BMWi and Data One
To promote digital transformation in German SMEs, the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology (BMWi) launched a new funding measure, “go-digital”, in 2017. Until the end of 2021, small and medium-sized enterprises and skilled trades are able to receive funding for the digitization of their business processes. With the three modules “IT security,” “digital market exploitation,” and “digitized business processes,” “go-digital” is deliberately targeted toward small and medium-sized enterprises in the commercial sector and skilled trades.
To help with the effective use of funding, the program offers consulting services so that companies can keep up with the technological and societal developments in online trade, the digitization of day-to-day business, and the increasing security needs of digital networking. To reduce the amount of bureaucracy that SMEs and skilled trades have to deal with, authorized consulting companies handle the funding application. Data One received authorization in 2017 and advises SMEs with competitive neutrality. We provide you with comprehensive support and are not just responsible for the consulting itself; we also handle the application, accounting, and the check on how the funds will be used.
Ministry of Economy launches “go-digital” funding program
Germany has one of the world’s strongest economies – but so far this does not seem to be reflected in the nation’s digital infrastructure. In fact, Germany’s sluggish digitization is becoming a serious threat to its ability to compete internationally – a situation that particularly affects small and medium-sized companies.
To ensure that German SMEs do not fall behind technologically and can maintain their position in the long term, the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology (BMWi) has launched the funding program “go-digital.” The aim of the funding is to keep up with the technological and societal developments in online trade, the digitization of day-to-day business, and the increasing security needs of digital networking.
Digitization funding aimed at SMEs
The German government’s funding program is specifically aimed toward small and medium-sized companies with less than 100 employees and annual sales of below 20 million euros. One further condition applies: the company must be active in the commercial sector or be a skilled craft enterprise and display technological potential.
The funding provided by “go-digital” is specifically targeted at the digitization of central workflows in core business, and is based on the modules “IT security,” “digital market exploitation,” and “digitized business processes”. To support practical implementation and ensure that the funding is used as effectively as possible, the Federal Government is providing extensive consulting services as part of the program.
Support from authorized consulting companies
As the level of staffing is often low in SMEs and many measures fail because of a lack of time and personnel, the BMWi is providing companies that want to apply for funding with support from authorized consulting companies. These authorized consultants support companies that want to make use of the “go-digital” funding in all matters relating to the application process, accounting, and the check on how the funds will be used. An overview of the services that Data One provides as an authorized consulting company:
- Securing grants of up to €16,500 for designated digitization projects.
- Consulting for SMEs from all sectors and trades.
