Overview of the Project

In 2019, f-tronic® has made it its goal to go the path to 360-degree digitalization. Not just digital workflows but also organized process optimization by means of digital tools are being pushed ahead. The company contacted Data One in 2020 with the aim of taking a big step toward the cloud. The central objectives of the project were the introduction of Microsoft 365 and afterwards, implementing additional supplementary digitalization projects. In the first part of the project, scoping workshops were held and everything for Azure Active Directory Connect and Exchange Hybrid got off the ground.

A proof of concept for a select test group was the second step in the project. This way, the features of Microsoft 365 could be tested exhaustively. An agile project approach was chosen to assure a high level of transparency on both sides during the project. In the third big project step, we did the rollout of Exchange Online and Teams in the entire organization. In supplementation, an automated email signature with signature management software by CodeTwo was integrated. In addition, admin training was provided for the IT and administrative staff. Besides this, a first landing page for a new intranet was created based on SharePoint Online.

The collaboration could be improved decisively with the introduction of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. Documents are filed centrally and can be shared for editing. Video conferences and group chats, also across sites, can be organized smoothly for quick and simple collaboration in the team thanks to Teams. By virtue of using Exchange in combination with Outlook, email management is now simple and flexible. A central basis was created in SharePoint to organize long-term knowledge management and set up a central location for company communication.

The work environment of Microsoft 365 was very well received by the users. The objective of getting ahead with the digital transformation that f-tronic® pursues has been reconfirmed in the higher utilization rate. Many new scenarios arise at f-tronic® in course of the use, which are to be mapped in M365 in the coming months. Accordingly, the complete configuration of the intranet, security and compliance for M365, training and the LMS365 learning management system of elearningforce (for both M365 as well as own product training) are planned as the further steps.
